This polling comes the day before Mr. Trump faces what may be the most defining day of his tenure as the man he fired, FBI director James Comey, is set to testify in front of a Senate Intelligence Committee investigating the Trump/Russia connection.
The unfortunate number the poll reveals is a devastating 34 percent unfavorable rating, the lowest this poll has recorded since Donald took office. This number is 3 percent worse compared to a negative 37 percent in a May 24 survey the same poll delivered only weeks ago.
Adding to his woes Mr. Trump's approval rating bloomed to a new high of 57 percent compared to a 55 percent in that same May 24 survey.
As long as we are talking about the Trump/Russia investigations engulfing this administration the good people at Quinnipiac inquired about that as well. When they asked whether "Donald Trump did something illegal in his relationship with Russia" 31 percent of American voters say "Yes" while another 29 percent say he did something unethical, but not illegal.
Only 32 percent of voters believe Trump did nothing wrong according to the poll
Trump's campaign advisors faired just as poorly with the Russian question as well as 40 percent of voters believe they were involved in something illegal in dealing with Russia. Only 25 percent say they did something unethical but not illegal and 24 percent think they did nothing wrong.
When asked if they believe Trump is too friendly to Russia, 54 percent of American voters said "yes" while only 3 percent say he is too unfriendly. 38 percent believe Trump has it just right.
A total of 68 percent of voters are "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about Trump's relationship with Russia.
And when asked if "Russia is an adversary" 45 percent of voters believe they are while only 8 percent say it is an ally.
Here are a few more numbers that are surely concerning Trump and his camp this morning...
68 - 29 percent that Trump is not level-headed (his worst grade on that quality)
59 - 36 percent that Trump is not honest
58 - 39 percent that Trump does not have good leadership skills
58 - 40 percent that Trump does not care about average Americans
62 - 35 percent that Trump is a strong person
57 - 40 percent that Trump is intelligent
64 - 33 percent that Trump does not share their values
The assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll said this after observing the numbers generated by this recent poll...
"There is zero good news for President Donald Trump in this survey, just a continual slide into a chasm of doubt about his policies and his very fitness to serve. If this were a prize fight, some in his corner might be thinking about throwing in the towel. This is counter puncher Donald Trump's pivotal moment to get up off the mat. With a third of the members of his own party questioning his level headedness, this is clearly the moment the president needs to steady the ship."
